The Government Accountability Office released the ’Responsibilities and Information and Technology Governance at Leading Private-Sector Companies’ report in September. The report, a follow up to a 2004 report on IT responsibilities for government agencies, highlights three main questions: The responsibility of private sector CIOs and how they compare with federal CIOs, the key challenges they face and how private organizations govern their information and IT assets enterprise wide.
