CNET reported yesterday that Douglas Merrill has stepped down from his post as president of EMI’s digital music business.
Merrill left his high-profile post as Google’s CIO to take the job with EMI in April 2008. According to a memo EMI circulated internally (obtained by the Wall Street Journal‘s All Things Digital blog), Merrill’s resignation coincided with the record label’s decision to shut down its standalone digital division, which Merrill headed, and to incorporate it with the rest of its business.
