Net Neutrality Dies

Finally the ISP and content sides in the ill conceived net neutrality debate are making progress. See this story.

I have always had a simplistic view on this topic: if I order a double tall latte I expect to pay more than a tall latte. If I order 93 octane gas I pay more than 87 octane.

I, for one, have been tired of the self-serving arguments of the content providers that all traffic be treated equally when we all know that streaming video traffic, as an example, hogs more bandwidth than email.

Net neutrality was a non-issue for another reason … the internet is a self policing state. If the ISPs really did start to act in a sinister fashion, users would have revolted in masse. We never did need Congress or the FCC to get in the debate.

Net neutrality … sorry to see ya go!
